Johan Santana struck out 11 batters as the impressive Caracas Leones topped
the California Gangsta Luv by a score of 9 to 3 at the
ballpark.
Santana(16-5) pitched a fine game. He went 7 innings surrendering 5 hits and
no walks. Overall Caracas out-hit California 13 to 9.
The losing pitcher was Freddy Garcia(11-9). Santana was asked about his big
strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these
numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
able to take the crowd out of the game.'
